Shooting Call Prompts Large Police Response to Penn Yan’s Hampton Inn

SHARE NOW

There was a heavy police presence Saturday night at the Hampton Inn in the village of Penn Yan after Yates County 9-1-1 reportedly received a call indicating that either there were gunshots fired at the Mace Street hotel or an active shooter.

Penn Yan Police, the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police all responded to the scene at around 7 o’clock. Guests of the hotel were taken to the banquet room of the neighboring Seasons on Keuka Lake while law enforcement cleared all the rooms and floors. Police also searched all of the vehicles in the parking lot. After it was determined there were no active shooter or shooting victims, police conducted interviews with the hotel guests.

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office sent out a message at 9 p.m. indicating the investigation at the Hampton was finished.

This is a developing story.  We will continue to update as more information is made available.
