Schuyler Health Announces “Schuyler Steps Out” Winners

Two area school districts have been named winners of a competition aimed at fighting obesity through exercise.

Watkins Glen Central School District took first place and Odessa Montour Central School District took second place in the 17th year of Schuyler Hospital’s Schuyler Steps Out. The Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce took third place in the six week competition where participants attempt to clock in the most steps.

This year saw nine teams walk the 92 million miles, or equivalent of circling the globe 4.6 times.

The hospital uses the program to promote healthy habits to combat obesity, diabetes, and related issues in the community.
