Schuyler County District Attorney Joseph Fazzary has been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York State Office of Victim Services. The honor was presented this week during the agency’s annual conference.
Fazzary, who has served as district attorney for nearly 30 years, announced back in February that he would retire at the end of his term at the end of this year. He was recognized for his work supporting crime victims and prosecuting difficult cases. The state agency also noted that Fazzary has shared his own experience as a survivor to help strengthen services for others.
His leadership was also credited with the creation of the Justice Center of the Southern Tier, which provides support for victims and families.
The Office of Victim Services said the award highlights Fazzary’s long-standing commitment to ensuring victims are heard and supported throughout the justice system.
