A Schuyler County resident will spend time in prison for her felony drug conviction.
Back in February, April Ball was found guilty of criminal possession of a controlled substance following a four-day trial in Schuyler County Court. On Thursday, Ball was sentenced by Judge Matthew Hayden to eight years in state prison and five years post-release supervision.
At sentencing, Schuyler County Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Hourihan described Ball’s residence on North Catherine Street in Montour Falls as a “trap house” and was well known to anyone who wanted to use illicit substances with impunity. He further portrayed the 46-year-old defendant as being responsible for cultivating a new generation of individuals with addiction to methamphetamine within the county.
Ball’s case was investigated by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from the New York State Police Western Regional Crime Laboratory.
