Two public hearings are planned for next month to learn more about the village of Burdett and the town of Hector’s Wastewater Feasibility Study.
The study will determine the cost of developing and maintaining a municipal wastewater system to replace private septic systems within the two Schuyler County communities, including along State Route 414. The study considers existing onsite septic systems, drinking water well locations, typical lot sizes, soil characteristics, and the water quality of Seneca Lake and its tributaries. The final report will include the proposed cost of a municipal wastewater system, a comparison to private onsite septic systems, and opportunities for grant funding to reduce individual user costs.
The first public hearing will be held on February 5th at the Town of Hector Fire Hall with the second scheduled for one week later on February 12th at the Burdett Fire House. Both meetings will start at 6 o’clock.
