Report: NYSUT Files Motions in Clyde-Savannah Book Case

SHARE NOW

Earlier this month, New York’s public teachers’ union filed several motions in the State Supreme Court in Albany in response to a minister’s ongoing efforts to challenge the state Education Department’s decision to keep five books in the secondary school library at Clyde-Savannah.

Rev. Jacob Marchitell and the Wayne County Chapter of Moms for Liberty, argue that the books are pornographic and that the Education Department overstepped parental rights by allowing them to remain on the shelves.

The Finger Lakes Times reports the motions, which include a request to dismiss the case, are scheduled to be heard on February 14. As of now, no judge has been assigned, according to case records.
