Quick Interior Attack Limits Fire Damage to Penn Yan Home

Penn Yan and Benton firefighters, along with the Himrod FAST Team, were called to a structure fire on State Route 364 Tuesday morning.

The call initially came in for the smell of smoke on the second floor but when firefighters arrived on the scene, they reported seeing smoke outside of the home. A quick interior attack limited the fire spread and contained it to a small area on the second floor.

An investigation determined the cause of the fire was accidental.

The American Red Cross was requested to the scene.

Penn Yan Ambulance also provided EMS standby.
