PYTCo Youth Theatre Summer Camp Receives Grant Funding

The Penn Yan Theatre Company has received $7,400 in grants from two area Community Foundations to be used for its annual summer youth camp.

In November 2022, PYTCo received $2,400 in funding from the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes’ Keuka Area Fund. Last month, $5,000 was granted from Rochester Community Foundation’s Vitality Grant: Arts and Culture Fund.

“We are thankful to both of these Community Foundations and the various funding opportunities that they both provide,” says PYTCo president and director of the summer youth program Dusty Baker. “Their continued support of our youth programming will allow us to expand our annual summer youth camp as we head into our 19th year.”

Current plans for this summer’s camp involve extending the hours of operation, allowing for additional educational opportunities for participants, and a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the performing arts and the musical production the camp will be putting on.

The Keuka Area Fund provides grants to registered 501(c)(3) organizations that serve residents of the communities surrounding Keuka Lake and protect the physical environment of the region. Rochester Community Foundation’s Arts and Culture Action Area supports the foundation’s goal to strengthen regional vitality by encouraging vibrant and diverse arts and cultural offerings and improving the capacity of local arts organizations.

PYTCo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides performing arts entertainment and education to the area. They are also working to revitalize the Historic Sampson Theatre on East Elm St. To learn more about PYTCo or to donate to the organization’s mission to extend their summer programming, visit www.pytco.org.
