A public hearing on the proposed addition of four pieces of agricultural land to Yates County’s Agricultural District Number One scheduled for Monday’s Yates County Legislature meeting was postponed until next month.
An error on the resolution regarding the acreage was discovered and the Legislature wanted to give the public adequate notice of the change before a vote. The public hearing will now at 1 p.m. on January 13th
The four parcels are primarily comprised of viable agricultural land as defined by the New York State Department of Ag and Markets.
Larry Lewis, co-chair, of the county’s Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, said the inclusion of these lands is deemed to serve the public interest by supporting the preservation and sustainability of a viable agricultural industry within the district.
