Person of Interest Sought in Tompkins County Homicide

As one local sheriff’s office continues its investigation into a homicide that happened back in March, your help is being asked for.

On March 5th, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Mill Street in the Town of Lansing for what was initially reported as an “unattended death”. Due to the circumstances that were observed by the responding Deputies, the Criminal Investigation Division was contacted as well as the Tompkins County Medical Examiner’s Office to conduct a more thorough investigation into the death of 71-year-old Joseph West, Junior of Ithaca.

The Sheriff’s Office recently received the results from the Forensic Autopsy conducted by Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, which concluded that the manner of death, as it relates to Joseph West Jr., was a homicide.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance with locating 52-year-old Larry R. Walrad, Junior, of Lansing. Walrad Jr., who is a Person of Interest in this case.
