For the second year in a row, Corey Grace has been selected by his peers as the Penn Yan Police Department’s Office of the Year.
Office Grace is a Penn Yan native, who graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 2013. He went on to attend Finger Lakes Community College and Morrisville State College where he studied Criminal Justice and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. Officer Grace was hired at the Penn Yan Police Department in 2018 and successfully completed the Police Basic Academy at the Finger lakes Law Enforcement Academy in Canandaigua. Since becoming a member of the department, Officer Grace has attended numerous trainings and is a certified crime scene photographer, evidence technician and a member of the Yates County Fire Investigation Team. Officer Grace has also begun to work with confidential informants to combat drug sales in Penn Yan. His work in this area has led to multiple felony-level investigations and arrests.
“Officer Grace is a valued member of the department who exemplifies the best attributes of law enforcement, ” said Chief Thomas Dunham. “He is able to effectively communicate with people in a variety of situations all while having the right balance of empathy and officer safety.
