A guilty plea in court this week from a Penn Yan man accused of subjecting another person to sexual contact while they were sleeping and unable to give consent.

In Yates County Court, 81-year-old John “Jack” Clancy pleaded guilty to a felony charge of attempted sexual abuse. He was arrested by Yates County authorities back in August. District Attorney Todd Casella told the Finger Lakes Times he would seek a sentence for Clancy of up to six months in jail and 10 years of probation when he is sentenced on January 29th.

Clancy, who is a former Yates County Legislator and local businessman, would also have to register as a sex offender.

A Stay-Away Order of Protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
