SHARE NOW

One person was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital after being struck by a car Thursday morning in the village of Penn Yan.

Police say 92-year-old Suzanne Goodrich failed to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk at the intersection of Liberty and Elm Streets. The person struck was crossing Liberty Street when the accident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. The victim suffered undisclosed injuries and was taken to Strong by Mercyflight.

Goodrich was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

The Penn Yan Fire Department and Yates County Emergency Services assisted Penn Yan Police at the scene.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
