The Penn Yan community is invited to an Open House today that will honor retiring school superintendent Howard Dennis. The Open House will be held in the District Office from 2 until 5 p.m.
Dennis announced at the beginning of the calendar year that he would retire from Penn Yan in January 2025. Dennis came to Penn Yan in 1994 as an eighth-grade social studies teacher, a role he held for 10 years. He then shifted to supporting teachers in staff development. He later took on the role of Assistant Superintendent for Staff Instruction before being named Superintendent in 2015.
The district’s current Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Staff Development, Dr. Gregory Baker, will take over as superintendent after the New Year.
