One person was killed in a Wednesday motor vehicle crash in Steuben County.
According to state police, the incident happened around 11:34a on State Route 417 in the Town of Woodhull.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Dodge Ram 2500 was traveling northbound from a field and was attempting to cross SR 417 to access a driveway. A Chrysler Pacifica driven by 46-year-old Kelly Bills of Woodhull was traveling east on SR 417 and struck the Ram, causing both vehicles to become fully engulfed in flames.
Bills was able to exit his vehicle and was taken to Guthrie Corning Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ram, an 84-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers were assisted on the scene by the Jasper Fire Department, Addison Fire Department, Woodhull Fire Department, Woodhull Ambulance, Tuscarora Fire Department, AMR Ambulance, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Department of Transportation, and the Steuben County Coroner.
This is an ongoing investigation.
