SHARE NOW

New York Deputy Secretary of State Kisha Santiago visited Watkins Glen on Thursday. Her visit was part of a forum held at the Seneca Lake Event Center at Clute Park that focused on the past, present, and future of Downtown Revitalization programs in the region.

Watkins Glen won $10 million in Downtown Revitalization Initiative funding five years ago. In addition to Deputy Secretary Santiago, Watkins Glen Mayor Laurie DeNardo, and Judy McKinney Cherry, Executive Director of SCOPE, discussed private stakeholders involved with the DRI and New York Forward programs. Agency staff were also on hand to share advice, insights, lessons learned, and recommendations to future program applicants and awardees.

The New York Department of State is on a statewide tour promoting two of its flagship economic development programs. Past program participants share insights and lessons learned with new communities interested in revitalizing their downtowns.
