Nominations are open for the third annual Bee You Awards.
Presented by Cayuga Lake National Bank, the awards recognize students in grades six through 12 from the Lansing, Moravia, Southern Cayuga, and Union Springs Central School Districts for exceptional acts of leadership, kindness, and community service.
Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Michele Rivoli said Cayuga Lake National Bank developed the award to recognize schoolchildren for being outstanding members of their community.
“This is an opportunity to be recognized for being a great kid and I think that’s really important… There’s a lot of attention given to academic and sports winners but this is a different category and equally important.”
Two winners will be selected from each grade in each district with the winners entered into a raffle to win $1,000. Award recipients will also be recognized at an award ceremony on April 8 at the Lansing Middle School auditorium.
Students can be nominated by anyone including teachers and school staff, family, neighbors, and employers. The deadline to submit a nomination is March 1.
