It’s going to cost Yates County another $100,000 to remove contaminated soil found at the site of the new multi-purpose facility being built in Benton Center.
At this week’s county legislature meeting, legislators voted 11-2 in favor of paying the additional six-figure price tag to the Syracuse company overseeing the construction of the new multi-purpose county highway department facility.
The $26 million project has a contingency fund of more than $960,000 to cover unforeseen expenses.
