SHARE NOW

A Syracuse man who was the focus of a large-scale search in Tompkins County has been found alive and well in Pennsylvania, according to New York State Park Police.

20-year-old Jon D’Agostino was last seen on September 7 after leaving the Ithaca College campus, where he was a former student. His vehicle was later located at Buttermilk Falls State Park just outside Ithaca. Inside, police found his phone and a note suggesting he intended to harm himself.

The discovery launched a massive multi-day search of the 811-acre park, involving police officers, forest rangers, drones, search dogs, and divers.

On Saturday, D’Agostino’s father, Frank, told Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard that a man confirmed he had given Jonathan a ride from Elmira to Trout Run, Pennsylvania, on September 8.

State Park Police have not released additional details.
