A man was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital after his leg became entangled in a piece of farm equipment in Schuyler County.
The sheriff’s office reports that what happened to Shane Jacobs was unrelated to the farm where the incident occurred. An investigation determined that the 40-year-old Hector man entered a cornfield just off State Route 224 and Pertl Road in the town of Catharine shortly after nine Friday morning while the field was being harvested. With little visibility in the middle of the field, the farmer operating the harvester unexpectedly came across Jacobs, resulting in the lower half of Jacob’s right leg becoming entangled in the machinery.
The incident remains under investigation.
