A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a 25-year-old man police say assaulted a pregnant woman after an alleged road rage incident in the town of Ithaca.
According to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Anthony Cruz and another person followed a pregnant woman after a road rage incident at a Dunkin Donuts on Pine Tree Road. When the woman came out of the store, she found her car keyed and the car from the road rage incident next to hers. When she went to speak with Cruz, he allegedly punched her in the face. As she attempted to catch herself, the pregnant woman grabbed the car door but was dragged some 50 feet by its driver, 23-year-old Makendra Peterson, of Painted Post.
Peterson was arrested on July 13th and was charged with felony assault and was released on an appearance ticket.
Police are asking for help in locating Cruz, who is known to frequent the Elmira area, and is someone who has been involved in multiple road rage incidents. A warrant charging him with assault and criminal mischief has been issued for his arrest.
