The Owasco Lake Watershed Management Council (OLWMC) has a new member.
On June 26, the Lansing Town Board declared their intent to join the group as a director. Speaking on FLX Morning with Ted Baker, Dr Adam Effler with the OLWMC said Lansing’s membership in the inter-municipal nonprofit dedicated to protecting the health of Owasco Lake and its watershed became official on Tuesday.
“The members of the mamagement council resolved that the board of directors increase from 13 to 14 directors and that the newly created directorship would be filled by the Town of Lansing,” said Effler.
Lansing joins Auburn, Cayuga County, Dryden, Fleming, Groton, Locke, Moravia (Town), Moravia (Village), Niles, Owasco, Scipio, Sennett, and Summerhill with representation on the council. Joseph Wetmore has been appointed be the town’s representative.
The Owasco Lake Watershed reaches communities in Cayuga, Onondaga, and Tompkins Counties with the lake itself providing drinking water to over 40,000 people in Cayuga County.
