A fire last Thursday afternoon in the city of Ithaca that heavily damaged an apartment where it originated and caused damage to several other nearby apartments was intentionally set.
An investigation by Ithaca Police and NY State Police Fire led to the arrest Tuesday of a juvenile on a felony arson charge. Due to the suspect’s age, their name is not being disclosed. They were arraigned in Tompkins County Court and released to their guardian.
Last Thursday afternoon’s fire at West Village Apartments near Abbott Lane resulted in no injuries but the property did sustain a substantial loss.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
