Ithaca Police Chase Ends Up With Parked Car Pushed Into School

SHARE NOW

Police say the driver of a car who fled a traffic stop in the city of Ithaca collided with a parked car and intentionally pushed into the Fall Creek Elementary School causing extensive damage. (More photos from Matt Butler and the Ithaca Voice are available here.)

The incident happened just before 10 Thursday night when police spotted a car speeding in the Fall Creek area. After fleeing from police and striking the parked car, the suspect is then accused of backing up at a high rate of speed and attempting to strike a marked patrol car. The driver then put the car back in drive and struck the parked car again, pushing it further into the school. After a short foot pursuit, the driver was taken into custody.

Police are withholding the name of the driver at this time due to the ongoing investigation.   We will update this story as more information is made available.

Ithaca Police were assisted on the scene by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Bangs Ambulance, and the Ithaca Fire Department.
