City of Ithaca facilities will be closed on Monday as officials respond to the ongoing winter storm. Acting City Manager Dominick Recckio issued a State of Emergency effective 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, citing heavy snow accumulation and unsafe travel conditions.
Closures include all City offices, the Cass Park Ice Rink, and programs at the GIAC/Youth Bureau.
Essential services, including snow removal, emergency response, and other critical operations, will continue, led by the Department of Public Works, Ithaca Fire Department, and Ithaca Police Department. Curbside trash collection will be delayed by one day this week.
City officials are encouraging residents to take precautions during the storm:
- Stay off the roads if possible and monitor changing weather conditions.
- Report power outages directly to NYSEG at 1‑800‑572‑1131 or via their online or mobile reporting tools, and monitor the outage map for updates.
- Check on neighbors who may need assistance.
- Subscribe to City alerts and monitor official communication channels for updates.
The City of Ithaca thanked residents for their cooperation and urged the community to plan ahead and stay safe as staff work to maintain public safety and essential services throughout the storm.
