The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department rescued a 54-year-old man after he had been missing for almost 17 hours.
Deputies and investigators responded to the area of Taggart Road in the town of Urbana last Friday after the unidentified man left his home the previous afternoon at 4 and had not returned and was not answering his phone. The man’s car was located near Taggart Road and he was found around 10 Friday morning near a ravine. Deputies say the man was conscious, injured, and unable to walk and had spent the night outside in the rain.
The Hammondsport Fire Department responded with a UTV and brought the man to the road so he could be taken to the hospital.
Sheriff Jim Allard thanked the Hammondsport Fire Department for their assistance in this investigation and recovery.
