A bipartisan bill introduced by Congressman Nick Langworthy that aims to curb what he describes as “excessive regulatory overreach” on household dishwashers has passed the House. On Tuesday, the Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards Act, or SUDS, passed with seven Democrats joining Republicans in support.

According to Congressman Langworthy, who represents Schuyler and Steuben counties in the House of Representatives, the Biden Administration’s proposed dishwasher efficiency standards would significantly cut the amount of water and energy these appliances can use, making dishwashers more expensive and less effective…

“Millions of Americans can not afford to buy their first home or even save for a rainy day. So what does this Biden Administration do? They pile on more regulations and requirements and higher standards out of the most basic household appliances.”

Langworthy adds that the U.S. Department of Energy’s analysis of these proposed standards estimates that Americans $17 over 12 years.
