Residents of Yates County can learn about the history of a company that dates back more than 200 years by attending next month’s annual dinner meeting of the county’s History Center.

Jeff Gifford and Kyle Gifford, President and Vice President of Birkett Mills, will make their presentation on November 7th at the Wagner Restaurant. Hors d’oeuvres begin at 6 p.m., and the meal starts at 6:30 p.m.

Admission costs $35 per person, and attendees must register by Thursday, October 31 by calling YCHC at (315) 536-7318. The meal choices are steak, chicken parmesan, broiled fish, or vegetable lasagna. Dinner includes a tossed salad, dessert, and coffee. A brief business meeting and then the Giffords’ presentation will follow dinner.

The Yates County History Center has a mission to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Yates County and operates the L. Caroline Underwood Museum, the Oliver House, and the Scherer Carriage House, which contains the permanent exhibit on the Public Universal Friend. The History Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a suggested donation of $5 for admission.
