Three people were rescued from Watkins Glen State Park’s Gorge Trail Saturday night following a landslide on the Lovers Lane Trail.
Emergency crews were dispatched shortly after 8 o’clock with a recon crew initially sent to evaluate the situation. After confirming the landslide, the crew returned to staging, and additional manpower with portable lights and a UTV were dispatched. According to the Watkins Glen Fire Department, two groups were sent to the location of the people trapped utilizing the app “What 3 Words” and entering from east and west. Crews were able to locate the hikers and safely remove them. No injuries were reported.
After the rescue, multiple groups checked all the trails and no one else was found.
