Healthy Families Program Expands In Schuyler & Tompkins Counties

SHARE NOW

Catholic Charities Steuben/ Livingston has announced the expansion of the Healthy Families program into Schuyler and Tompkins Counties. The Office of Children and Family Services awarded this contract and can serve 53 families in the new area, in addition to the 200 families they serve in Steuben and Livingston Counties.

Healthy Families is a program that works with all parents who have or are expecting a new baby. They serve as a “welcome wagon” to parenthood, sharing information and community resources to promote positive parent-child interaction and school readiness. As always, their programming is FREE and voluntary! Healthy Families is part of the national system that has programs in each County in New York State. This program has been in Steuben County for 28 years and completed over 100,000 home visits with participating families.

A current Healthy Families participant stated, “I appreciate the open communication, and the resources specific to milestones for my child’s age group. I love that she brings information on things to work on with my child.” And another parent shared “Without this program, I would have gone into parenthood for the first time blind. I have learned so much from this experience and I am grateful that these programs exist for all families.”

Healthy Families Schuyler/ Tompkins will have a team of 5 when fully staffed and have already enrolled their first few families. There is limited room so if you are pregnant or have a baby under 3 months old you can sign up by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HFSL-ProgramInterestSurvey or for additional information email [email protected].
