One Steuben County school district has been given the green light to move forward with a proposed capital project. Hammondsport voters on Thursday approved a $14.6 million capital project by a vote of 152 to 41.
Included in the project are a number of security, health, and safety improvements including code updates for secure entry points and access control systems. The district’s bus garage will also undergo improvements that would include replacing the aging bus lift system and outdated door systems.
The school will pay for the projects by taking $3.5 million from the district’s capital reserve funds, over $7 million in expected state aid, and over $3 million through retiring debt. There will be no additional tax impact for district residents.
