The evidentiary hearing on Greenidge Generation’s air permit renewal, originally set for Tuesday in Albany, has been postponed. A Department of Environmental Conservation administrative law judge granted Greenidge’s request for an adjournment, despite objections from environmental groups led by Earthjustice.
According to the amended notice on the DEC’s website, the new date for the hearing is June 24 at 9:00 A.M. Additional dates of June 26, June 27, August 5, August 6, and August 7 are also listed, with the notice stating that further dates would be determined as necessary.
Greenidge, which operates a natural gas-powered Bitcoin mining facility on Seneca Lake, has been fighting the DEC’s 2022 denial of its air permit. A February appellate court decision denied Greenidge’s request to pause administrative proceedings, even as it challenges a lower court ruling that found legal errors in the DEC’s denial but allowed the agency to restart its review.
