If you live in Ithaca, you can check out the project that earned several Girl Scouts merit badges.
Scouts from Troop 41350 of Ithaca recently constructed a community book barn at the council’s Camp Comstock property located at 1419 Taughannock Boulevard.
Seventh Graders Brooke, Genevieve, Lilie, and Madison spent the previous school year building the little library and engaging the community to fill it with free books.
“My favorite part was working together to build the book barn and knowing that books will be available to everyone for free,” says Lilie.
“I enjoyed building this lending library. My favorite part was the building process and learning to use power tools,” says Brooke.
“I think this project was important because it gives easier access for people to get books without having to worry about returning them,” says Genevieve.
“Carpentering is so cool,” says Madison.
“We are so proud of all the hard work they put into this project,” says Michael Garcia, Director of Camps for GSNYPENN. “The craftsmanship that they showed was amazing.”
