Speed and weather were contributing factors in a one-car rollover accident on State Route 14 in Yates County that sent a Geneva woman to the hospital.
The accident happened during the lunch hour on Monday. 28-year-old Erika Cortes Castro was traveling north when her car went off the east side of the road after she failed to negotiate a slight curve. The car overturned down an embankment before coming to rest on its roof in a yard.
Cortes Castro was taken to Geneva General by Penn Yan Ambulance for arm pain. She was ticketed for speeding and other violations. The Yates County Sheriff’s Office reports weather conditions of freezing rain and snow were also a contributing factor.
The Dresden Fire Department, Penn Yan Ambulance, and Medic 55 assisted the Yates County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
