A former Assistant District Attorney in Steuben County has reached a plea agreement on charges of possessing child pornography.
The investigation into James Miller began in May of 2021 when State Police received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reporting that the 64-year-old’s email account uploaded suspected images of child porn. Weeks later, a search warrant executed at Miller’s home in Corning led to the seizure of several digital devices. 84 images of child pornography were found on a seized cell phone and 22 images were located on a computer.
Miller faces three-to-four years in jail, a fine of up to $150,000, and a period of supervised release of at least 5 years. He will also be ordered to pay restitution to the victims of no less than $3,000 per victim.
The complaint is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia and the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Brian Ratajczak. Additional assistance was provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
