Some local firefighters and a local veterinarian saved a dog’s life in Watkins Glen this weekend.
The dog’s owners were not home when a fire broke out at their 11th Street residence late Sunday morning. When interior firefighters from Dundee, Watkins Glen, and Montour Falls made their way inside the home, they found the dog unconscious. After rescuing the dog, firefighters initiated life-saving efforts including CPR on Diesel. Their efforts, along with the efforts of Dr. Martha Hawksworth of Lakeside Veterinary Services, saved Diesel.
The cause of the house fire remains under investigation.
