SHARE NOW

Hazardous snow and ice covered road slowed the Bath Fire Department’s response to a structure fire Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters spotted flames around the chimney area of a double wide mobile home when they arrived on scene on County Route 11 in the town of Bath just after 4 o’clock. The fire quickly spread into the attic space and continued to spread. Interior crews were able to hold the fire to half of the home with minor smoke damage through the other half. The two people in the home and their animals all escaped safely.

The fire was determined to have started in the chimney area.

Thurston, Savona, Campbell, Kanona and Hammondsport Fire Departments all provided manpower and equipment at the scene and Bath Volunteer Ambulance also was on scene.
