The Finger Lakes National Forest is pleased to announce the return of the Youth Fishing Derby to be held on Saturday, May 6th from 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM at the Potomac Pond, located on Potomac Road in Hector. The derby has been postponed the past few years but this return will mark the 25th time the Fishing Derby has been held on the National Forest.
Youth ages 2-12 are eligible to participate. Pre-registration is required again this year with registration being limited to the first 100 kids. This registration limit is in place to allow all those participating to have a safe and enjoyable time, and to help in event planning, ensuring there will be enough food and beverages for the celebration. The deadline for registering is May 1st. Contact the Hector Ranger District Office at (607) 546-4470 to register or for more information.
Organizers say prizes will be awarded, and food will be available.
