State Police in Painted Post are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred early New Year’s Day in Steuben County.
Troopers were dispatched at approximately 7:00 a.m. for a reported rollover crash involving a plow truck with possible entrapment. Before troopers arrived, the driver had been extricated from the vehicle and transported by emergency medical services to St. James Hospital in Hornell
State Police say a 2024 Freightliner plow truck was found off the south shoulder of Grinnold Road in Troupsburg, resting on its passenger side. The vehicle had exited the roadway for an unknown reason.
While troopers were on scene, they were notified that the operator, a 44-year-old man, had died from his injuries while being transported to the hospital. The Steuben County Coroner responded and ordered an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
