An Elmira man will be sentenced in April after pleading guilty in Tompkins County Court to a charge of manslaughter.
Jonathan Roberts faces five to 15 years behind bars after admitting in court last Friday to driving a car while impaired in March of 2022. Back on March 19th, police responded to a two-car accident on State Route 13 in Newfield and found Joseph Arguello, of Ithaca, trapped inside his car. After firefighters cut Arguello from the wreckage, he was taken to the hospital and died. Roberts was located later on foot about a mile and a half from the accident scene.
The 32-year-old also pled guilty to reckless driving, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and criminally negligent homicide.
