165 days in jail and five years probation. That was the sentence handed down this week by Yates County Judge Mackenzie Stutuzman to a local woman who pleaded guilty in January to a charge of criminally negligent homicide for having a role in the death of her five-month-old baby.
The body of Samantha Crane’s baby was found unresponsive in a Dundee home last March 20th. The baby was rushed to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital and died a short time after arrival. No other details were released.
Crane was also sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty to an unrelated criminal investigation, after being arrested in November for providing false information to the Department of Social Services which resulted in her receiving benefits she was not entitled to.
