A Dundee man already serving time for sexually abusing minors is facing another indictment — his fourth involving a different victim.
The Yates County District Attorney’s Office says 49-year-old Ronald Chilson was indicted on October 15 for predatory sexual assault against a child, a Class A felony. Prosecutors say the alleged victim was a former foster child under the age of 13.
The new charge adds to a series of indictments against Chilson, who has been accused by four separate victims. His legal troubles began in July 2024, when he was first indicted on multiple felony sex abuse charges involving children.
In January 2025, prosecutors filed eight additional felony counts tied to the alleged abuse of a former foster child between 2022 and 2023. Then, in July 2025, Chilson was arrested again for predatory sexual assault involving another child under 13.
Chilson pleaded guilty on September 2 to criminal sexual act in the first degree, a Class B violent felony. He was sentenced on October 22 to 10 years in prison and 20 years of post-release supervision, and was ordered to register as a sex offender. Final orders of protection were also issued for all victims.
If convicted on the latest charge, Chilson could face 25 years to life in prison. He was arraigned before Judge Jason L. Cook and remains in custody while serving his current sentence.
The Yates County District Attorney’s Office urges anyone with information about child abuse to come forward. In emergencies, call 911. To report suspected abuse or neglect anonymously, contact the New York State Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-342-3720, available 24/7.
