It’s the year of the Bicentennial in Yates County and the village of Dresden will commemorate the county’s 200th birthday this weekend.
A parade will begin the celebration Saturday morning in the Yates County village at 10 with Sheriff Ron Spike serving as the grand marshal.
There will be plenty of activities for everyone to take part in. There will be children’s activities from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., a Scavenger Hunt, Games from 1823, and more. Two bands will share the stage at the gazebo and will entertain attendees from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Organizers also tell us there will be a wine and beer garden where some local wineries and breweries will be set up.
If you come to the celebration on Saturday, you won’t go away hungry. In addition to hot dogs, ice cream, and popcorn, a chicken barbecue will be held starting at noon. Pre-sale tickets for the barbecue are available at Long’s Cards and Books, Himrod Farm Supply, the Knapp and Schlappi Lumber Company, and the Trails End Diner.
Saturday’s activities will all happen around the gazebo area of the village of Dresden.
