The Tompkins County Legislature voted this week to close the customs facility at Ithaca Tompkins International Airport, citing low demand and economic considerations.
The 13-1 vote means future international travelers to Ithaca will need to stop at a customs-equipped airport before arriving, following the closure of the customs facility.
The county is exploring options to repurpose the site for revenue generation, though specific plans and a closure timeline are not yet available.
