Yates County Sheriff Frank Ryan provided an update at 10:30 Tuesday night regarding the wind storm that is impacting the county:
“The Yates County Sheriff’s Office is receiving 911 calls in reference to power outages and debris in the road. Travel is NOT recommended due to the random conditions of roadways with debris, trees, and garbage cans. If travel is necessary, use reduced speeds and extreme caution when approaching intersections and other vehicles as they may swerve to avoid obstacles in the road. Sheriff’s patrols are busy attempting to assist multiple fire departments and Office of Emergency Services with the coordination of storm efforts. Extra emergency service dispatchers have been called in to handle the volume of calls coming in. Please be patient as emergency service workers help in clearing roads. We do not have any updates for restoration times from Penn Yan Municipal or NYSEG. We will attempt to update as information is received.”
