Corning Incorporated and Meta Platforms have announced a multiyear agreement worth up to $6 billion to support the expansion of advanced data centers in the United States. Under the deal, Corning will supply Meta with its latest optical fiber, cable, and connectivity products to power Meta’s apps, technologies, and AI infrastructure.

As part of the partnership, Corning will expand manufacturing capabilities across its North Carolina operations, including a major capacity increase at its optical cable facility in Hickory, where Meta will serve as the anchor customer. The expansion is expected to increase Corning’s workforce in the state by 15 to 20 percent, supporting a skilled team of more than 5,000 employees.

“This long-term partnership with Meta reflects Corning’s commitment to develop, innovate, and manufacture the critical technologies that power next-generation data centers here in the U.S.,” said Wendell Weeks, Corning’s chairman and CEO in a news release issued by the Steuben County-based company.

Meta officials said the collaboration will help strengthen domestic supply chains, support skilled U.S. jobs, and secure the country’s lead in AI technology.

The agreement highlights a focus on U.S.-based manufacturing and technology development, with new and expanded facilities supporting the construction of high-performance, AI-ready data centers.
