One of the region’s largest employers has laid off nearly two percent of its global workforce.
Just before last weekend, Corning Incorporated furloughed approximately 1,000 of its almost 51,000 employees. Corning cited its near-term revenues continuing to be lower than previous outlooks as the reason for the layoffs.
The company is expected to release its fourth-quarter earnings later this month.
