City of Ithaca Appoints New Director of Youth Bureau

The City of Ithaca announces the appointment of Gregg Houck as the new Director of the Ithaca Youth Bureau. Houck brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership in recreation, community impact, and youth development.

Formerly the Senior Director of Community Impact at United Way of Tompkins County, where Houck served for the past two years. Prior to his role at United Way, he held senior leadership positions within the YMCA movement in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Ithaca. Houck is a graduate of the SUNY Cortland Recreation, Parks, and Leisure Studies Department. He also serves on the Board of Education for the Candor Central School District.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Houck stated, “I am honored to be entrusted with this opportunity and look forward to working alongside the IYB staff as, together, we continue to build and grow opportunities for area youth and their families.” Houck officially assumed his position in January and is eager to engage with the IYB community.

“I eagerly await the chance to listen and learn from staff, local youth, volunteers, local leaders, community members, collaborators, potential collaborators, supporters, and any other interested stakeholders as we develop a shared vision for future success,” Houck added.

The City of Ithaca welcomes Houck to the helm of the Ithaca Youth Bureau and expresses confidence in his ability to lead the department to new heights. His commitment to serving all area youth with a focus on strengthening diversity, equity, and inclusion aligns perfectly with the values of the IYB, and his extensive experience positions him as a valuable asset to the Ithaca community.
