After being indicted on ten misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child last summer, an assistant principal with one Steuben County school district has officially been cleared.
The charges against Eli Marcus alleged that he personally searched at least ten Hornell City School District female students between the ages of 13 and 16 for contraband during the 2021 school year. At the time, police said it was the nature of the alleged searches and how they were handled that resulted in charges.
With the criminal matter now resolved, WENY television reports the school district will have an independent internal investigation conducted. Marcus was placed on administrative leave prior to the grand jury indictments.
