SHARE NOW

Two new board members have been elected to the Board of Directors of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Yates County.

Freddy Stein-Hernon is a former Boy Scout and Ranger at Camp Babcock-Hovey. He became the Ranger of YMCA Camp Cory in 2021, managing the property year-round. Passionate about the outdoors, Stein-Hernon enjoys paddling on Keuka Lake, hiking the Catskill 3500s, and earning Junior Ranger Badges with Andrew. He has volunteered extensively with the Boy Scouts and is co-founder and co-chair of the YMCA of Greater Rochester’s emerging leader resource group. Stein-Hernon holds degrees from Nazareth College and Monroe Community College.

Margaret Long is a dedicated educator and community member deeply connected to Yates County’s agricultural roots. She spent over 25 years as the wife of a Yates County dairy farmer, during which time she owned and operated a petting zoo on their farm, offering educational tours for eight years. Margaret has raised two children who were active in 4-H and now enjoys supporting her two grandchildren’s involvement in the program. Her motivation to serve on the CCE-Yates County Board of Directors stems from her desire to give back to an organization that has benefitted her community and family.

Also taking place was the election of the board’s new slate of officers. They are as follows: Trish Bagley (President), Ritchie Lent (Vice-President), Todd Anderson (Secretary), and Susan Spence (Treasurer). The CCE-Yates County Board of Directors usually meets in the Yates County Building on the last Wednesday of each month. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
